False Doctrines – Like False Witnesses

COMPARE SCRIPTURE WITH SCRIPTURE.
False doctrines, like false witnesses,
agree not among themselves.
(William Gurnall)

If any man doth ascribe of salvation, even the very least, to the free will of man, he knoweth nothing of grace, and he hath not learnt Jesus Christ aright.
(Martin Luther)

God knoweth we have nothing of ourselves, therefore in the covenant of Grace he requireth no more than he giveth, and giveth what he requireth, and
accepteth what he giveth.
(Richard Sibbes, BRUISED REED)

Any time a theologian, writer, teacher, preacher uses conditionals, I would advise those that love the Gospel to beware of likely speculative theological teaching. “Ifs” and contingencies may fill our human minds, but no “ifs and contingencies” with immutable, decretive, and purposeful God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Low-grace thinkers departing from Holy Writ, going the way of Fullerism, formulating a 19th/20th/21st century paradox god in two minds (the God of the Bible is of ONE mind)—these dualists seismatizing truth! ON GUARD, SOLDIER!

Thus, try the spirits AND doctrines of preachers; prove all things; hold FAST that which is good, and abstain from that which appears to be evil. Deliver me from that worldly, Hallmark-type love that will ever compromise truth, rather give me that biblical love of Philippians 1:9, “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in KNOWLEDGE and JUDGMENT”.With the grand objective [far exceeding vain desire of oneupmanship] of verse 10, “That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; being filled with the FRUITS of righteousness, which are BY JESUS CHRIST, unto the glory and praise of God.”

The reasonable margin for “approve things that are excellent”
reads “prove the things that differ”. May God grant us Spirit wrought discernment. Selah.
