Esther Study Guide – Esther 7:1-10
The Seed of the Woman and the Seed of the Serpent
• Is this a banquet of only three people? No! We should recognize many people here, for here we have a battle between the Seed of the Woman and the Seed of the Serpent (Genesis 3:15).
• Were there in history also two banquets of wine? (Esther 7:1) Yes; the Passover in 1447 BC and the Lord’s Supper (Eating of the Passover) in AD 33. The wine represents the blood of Christ.
Why was the first banquet called a banquet of wine? (Esther 5:6) The blood of the Passover Lamb was a type or a picture of the blood of Christ.
• What does this second banquet of wine represent? (Esther 7:2)
Who was pointed out at this second banquet? Judas Iscariot (John 13:21-30).
Who lost his life after this banquet? Judas and Satan, for Judas was indwelt by Satan, and Satan received a death-blow at the cross. When we see the beast that comes up out of the sea, God showed us that one of his heads was mortally wounded (Revelation 13:3).
• The king is volunteering to offer half His kingdom, for the third time. What were the other two times?
Half the kingdom: Pilate’s choice: Give away Barabbas; hold back something: gospel of grace plus works
The whole Kingdom: God’s choice: Give away Jesus; do not hold back anything: Gospel of Grace
• “If I have found favour in Thy sight”, means: If I have found grace in Thy sight.
“Let my life be given me at my petition” (Esther 7:3). Is she asking for physical life or spiritual life?
And my people at my request; my people refers to my fellow Jews who are circumcised in their heart.
• “We are sold, I and my people” (Esther 7:4) Adam sold all his posterity into the hands of Satan.
When did this come to pass in history? In the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 3:16) “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception”. The word “and” is definitely there and thus this verse may not be interpreted “I will greatly multiply thy sorrow in thy conception” as is done in many “churches”.
When did this come to pass in the story of Esther? (Esther 3:8-9)
• Suddenly the tables are turned. The hunter is now the hunted. (Esther 7:5-6)
The seed of the woman is no longer afraid of the seed of the serpent (Genesis 3:15)
Esther is now taking on a more active role, like the Seed of the Woman in evangelism.
“Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Matthew10:16).
• Where was “the palace garden”? (Esther 7:7) It was a garden of much anguish (Matthew 26:36-46)
When did the King return out of the palace garden? Remember, His wrath was not pacified yet (Esther 7:8) Answer: When Christ was taken out of the Garden of Gethsemane and into the palace of the high priest.
What does the bed represent? (Esther’s resting place) The assembly of the saints.
• Haman was fallen upon the bed, and the king said, “Will he force the queen also before me in the house?” Spiritually: Satan is trying to defile the congregation by creating confusion among the disciples.
They covered Haman’s face. He was spiritually blinded. He was not allowed to know who the elect are, and he was not to know how to do battle effectively against the New Testament congregation.

• How was Haman hanged? (Esther 7:9) On the “gallows” which he had made for Mordecai (Proverbs 11:8).
This Hebrew word has been translated gallows 8 times and tree 162 times, and wood 107 times.
Haman was cursed by God, for “cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree” (Galatians 3:13).
Instead of Christ being destroyed, Satan was dealt a deathblow at the cross (Colossians 2:15, Revelation 12:11). “He shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel” (Genesis 3:15).
• Does this tell us about Satan’s intent at the cross? Satan wanted Christ to be a failure. Satan did not believe that the man Christ Jesus could endure the equivalent payment of sin on behalf of His elect. That is why he entered into Judas Iscariot, to finish his plan to kill Christ.
Where was Haman hanged? In the house of Haman, in the Bottomless Pit (Revelation 20:3)
Was his posterity also hanged at this time? No. All the unsaved will be hanged at the end of time.
• When was the King’s wrath pacified? (Esther 7:10) After Haman was put under the curse that he intended for Mordecai. After Satan was put under the curse that he intended for Christ (Colossians 2:15).
Jesus is LORD!
