Tithing in the New Testament Church – An Unbiblical Heresy

“Tithing” in the New Testament Church.

The holy meaning of the tithe is a tenth, not 10% of your work earnings.

The number 10 has a biblical and spiritual meaning of “completeness.”

The “tithe” was associated intimately with the Old Testament ceremional law pointing directly towards the blessed Messiah, God incarnated, being the perfect sacrifical Lamb offered up for the sins of His people (Matt. 1:21; John 17:9).

Jesus’ death on the cross put a complete end to the ceremonial offering of the “tithe,” which played a major part of the ceremonial sacrifices of plants and animals.

The ancient Israelites never used money, which is the root of all evil (the love of money that is, 1 Tim. 6:10) and it is also called corruptible things (silver and gold are a type of currency, 1 Peter 1:18-19) as a payment of the “tithe.”

There are those church leaders who because of the love of money would pervert the teachings of Holy Scripture.

On the subject of the tithe money is mentioned only in two verses (Deut. 14:25-26 and one other place is Neh. 10:32). Money was mentioned only because of travel conveniences in Deut. 14. If the journey to Jerusalem was of a long distance it was permissible to convert the tithe from animal (life) and crop (life) to money. But once the traveler reached Jerusalem where the literal Temple was located they were to convert that money back to animal (life) or crop (life) in order that the tithe be given to the priests for eating and partaken of by the givers.

The Holy bible states in 1 Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”

Christ states in Matthew 5:17, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”

To fulfil something means that it has been completed, and is no longer permissible or commanded to do such as before. The Old Testament law (moral and ceremonial with the accompanying tenants of this law, i.e., the tithe) was completed in Christ nailing it to the Cross.

The Old Testament rite of circumcisions with its accompanying ceremonial sacrifices, of which the tithe was a part of were done away with during the period of the cross through the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Holy Bible stresses in Colossians 2:14, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances [which were the Law of God through Moses] that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”

Both the moral and ceremonial laws (ordinances) speak to the sinfulness of mankind and the penalty for this sinfulness. In verse 14 the two words, handwriting and ordinances, speak to the law of God given through Moses, the servant of God. Those who make a profession of faith but are not born again from above belie the faith that they lay claim to. Their insistence on boasting in their ability to keep the commandments of God and keeping certain parts of the ceremonial law (paying the tithe, Sabbath worship, abstaining from eating pork, etc.) reveal their lack of spirituality.

Yet the chosen of the LORD God enabled by His Spirit in his/her love for Him wants to obey His commandments. The LORD no longer has to tell him/her “Thou shalt not sin.”

The children of God deep down within their souls no longer wants to sin. The struggle to turn away from individual sins that were so easily committed in the past is proof of the presence of God’s Spirit in the life of the elect and there is now victory over these sins as he/she lives out their existence in this life. The true child of God understands that the sacrifice of Christ’s life has freed them from the curse and work of the law so that he/she can now serve Him, yielding in the Spirit, in newness of life.

To pay the tithe on the New Testament side of the Cross is a grievious sin to commit because your actions are proving that you do not truly believe that the blessed Messiah finished all the works of eternal salvation by nailing Himself on the Cross for the elect’s sin.

The love of money is the main and only reason ministers/bishops twist the Word of God to have members to believe that it means 10% of your income earnings.

God prophesied that these grievous times would spiritually come through Jeremiah in Lamentations 5:4 as it states, “We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.”

Water depicts the true Gospel of eternal salvation (Isa. 55:1-2, Ezek. 4:9-17, John 7:37-39, Rev. 22:17).

Wood depicts the elect as being the blessed Trees of Righteousness, the planting of the LORD (Isa. 61:1-3, Jer. 17:7-8, Hosea 14:8-9, Rev. 9:4).

Clearly what is to be understood is that the giving of ones own life in service to God is the ultimate sacrifice. The chosen elected believer has nothing more, nothing less to give. It is the only thing that he/she is guaranteed of having once he/she is conceived in the womb. This life and its’ duration has been limited by the Creator. It was given at conception, placed under bondage as soon as it inhabited flesh and can only be liberated by Christ Jesus. This is what the “tithe” was meant to foreshadow (the giving of a life for a life).

Just as the animal and plant sacrifices ceased because of Christ’s death, His resurrection, and the giving of the Holy Spirit, so should the means whereby the supply of those physical items of sacrifices were made possible, meaning “the tithe.”
