Finishing The Work of God
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”
(John 4:34)
The meat of Christ, or the food which satisfied His Spirit, was to do the will of His Father who had sent Him.
It was God’s will that of all those chosen before the foundation of the world unto salvation Christ should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
To finish that work, begun in eternity, was meat to Christ.
To satisfy the Law’s last demand toward His people, to bear the guilt of His bride in His own body, and to have His perfect righteousness imputed to their account was to finish the work.
Eternity will still ring the praises to Him whose food was to bring worms such as we are into a perfect standing before the Holiness of God Almighty.
