A Short Study of Psalm 125:1-2
“They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion which cannot be removed, but abideth forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even forever.”
(Psalm 125:1-2)
Oh, the strength and stability of a life of faith!
The reason for such strength and steadfastness is not in the person who exercises faith, but the God in whom they place their trust!
The best of us are up and down, strong and weak, hot and cold, But, God is a rock that doesn’t sway, waver, or vary. Bad news doesn’t weaken or scare Him. In the midst of a world that is always changing, circumstances that frighten and concern us, our duty is to trust firmly to God and His word. The benefits of such trust are highlighted over and over again in the Scriptures.
The God in whom we trust surrounds His people just as the mountains surround physical Jerusalem. We need Jehovah to be “round about” us. Our enemies are numerous and strong; challenges are real and daunting. As real as those mountains surround Jerusalem, equally real is the love, presence and power of God around His people. Let us then stay ever near and close to Him.
